We were all set to start weaning this weekend. We’d read all the books, stocked up on organic veggies, and got Chiara a bib and a chair—ready to go! But, as usual, things didn’t go quite as planned. By the end of the weekend, there wasn’t much progress. Even though she seemed curious about the food, we couldn’t manage to get any of it into her mouth. Baby steps, I guess!

Oh well, if we can’t start weaning, let’s focus on playing! Things are definitely easier now that Chiara can sit up on her own for a while—though we still keep a few protective pillows around, just in case. She’s especially into books lately, and we’ve realized we’ve got a ton of them. Not so much for her benefit, but more to keep us sane—because who wants to read the same story a hundred times over?

Canon EOS 5D Mk II – 1/40 sec at f/2.8, ISO 160 Sunday morning at 6am, not sure what to do we put together the new playmat offered by Mike and Vanessa, for early learners of the alphabet. She seems to enjoy the colours. The picture is blurry because dad was very much still asleep.
Playing is easy, but posing for pictures with Mum and Dad? Not so much. We’ve tried plenty of times, but our little model doesn’t seem to be on the same page. She absolutely refuses to smile for the camera—unless, of course, we pull out our best monkey faces or one of her favorite toys.
